Here’s what our customers have to say about their rental experience.
A Class 3 e-bike reaches 28 mph on pedal assist. Our Class 3 rentals also include a throttle, which powers the bike without pedaling up to 20 mph. That makes them noticeably quicker than a standard Class 1 e-bike, which cuts assist at 20 mph and has no throttle at all. For comparison, most beach cruiser riders average 8 to 10 mph.
No. Under Florida law, e-bikes and their riders are not subject to driver license, vehicle registration, title, or financial responsibility requirements. E-bikes carry the same rights and duties as regular bicycles. Riders under 16 must wear a helmet. Sun-N-Fun sets its own minimum rental age, so check with our Estero Blvd shop before booking for a younger rider.
Not on the sand. Florida law lets any agency with jurisdiction over a beach or dune restrict or prohibit e-bike operation there, and Fort Myers Beach does. E-bikes are welcome on streets, shoulders, and bike lanes anywhere bicycles are allowed. Sidewalk riding is generally permitted under state law, but you must yield to pedestrians and give an audible signal before passing, and the town can restrict sidewalks in business districts. If you want a bike you can take onto the sand, ask about our beach cruisers instead.
The 672Wh Samsung-cell battery is built for a full beach day. Real-world range depends on how much you use the throttle, rider weight, and wind, but you can comfortably run all seven miles of Estero Island end to end and back several times over. Heavy throttle use drains the battery faster than pedal assist. Every bike leaves our shop fully charged.
Not always. Twist the throttle and the motor moves you without pedaling, up to 20 mph. Pedal along and the assist kicks in, carrying you to 28 mph. Most riders switch between the two, using the throttle on flats and headwinds and pedaling when they want the exercise. The motor cuts out the moment you brake.
